Brand: You

Brand: You
By Sylvia Henderson

A business or non-profit or faith-based organization creates an image that (usually) communicates who they are, what they sell, and what they stand for. The image—or brand—is created through verbal messages, printed documents, advertising media, and how their members conduct themselves.  Most organizations spend a great deal of time and money purposefully crafting their images and their messages because they want people to know instantly who they are when their brands are recognized. Brands extend beyond the actual product or service to become ingrained in the public psyche.  They mean more than a cool soft drink, a great computer, nice clothing, or a civic cause.  Brands imply that things go better, life can be more organized, you will have the freedom to make choices, or your image can be enhanced with the product or service represented.

I help people gain recognition by being effective communicators and presenting their ideas and themselves which leads to promotions, opportunities for growth, personal, business, political, community, or spiritual success.  They sell more and manage more effectively by being better communicators and presenters.  Doctors, lawyers, teachers, business people of varying levels and industries, clergy, administrative, trade, and service people all benefit from establishing and presenting their brands.  Decide what image you want to project and actively create your brand. Brand: you.

The public treats and reacts to the brand based on what is projected. Make sure you project the brand for yourself that you want to project. See your brand as others see it. Spend time and money to build and project the image you want to communicate. Advertise who you are and what you stand for through your actions and through your appearance.  Proclaim your identity on the clothes you wear, materials you distribute, and actions you take.  Tie it all together so that people know, when they see your brand, that it is you.
